If I were to offer you $10,000 dollars, what would you buy with it? This is not a joke. The Federal Government and state of Colorado are offering up to $10,000 dollars combined to purchase an Electric Vehicle. The Federal Government is offering a $7,500 dollar tax credit while Colorado is offering $2,500. And wouldn’t you know it, the new 2023 Nissan Leaf has just been released. It is a perfect entry into the EV world. The Nissan Leaf has been around for over ten years and has all the power, features and safety you could ever want.

Power is what sells Electric Vehicles. I know I lured you in with the Tax Credits, but really it is the power you will fall in love with. The new 2023 Leaf SV PLUS comes with a 60 KWh Lithium Ion Battery with 214 HP and 250 Lb-Ft of Torque. This means an 8.4 Second 0-60 MPH time. The instantaneous acceleration is addictive and exciting. Unlike internal combustion engines, you’ll never have to worry whether you have the power to pass that semi going fifteen under the speed limit.

Next the Nissan Leaf comes with plenty of features. To start, both the S and SV PLUS can utilize Fast Chargers (aka Level III Chargers) to speed up charging times. The S with its smaller 40 KWh Battery takes around 40 Minutes to charge while the SV Plus is 45 Minutes. Getting into some of the comfort features, the SV Plus is stacked. Here are some of the options available:

  • Nissan Connect AppControl the Climate, Door Locks and Charging Details of your Leaf
  • 8” Infotainment ScreenComes with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Navigation, Sirius XM and Voice Recognition
  • Heated Front SeatsKeep warm during the winter months
  • Charging PortsUSB- A and USB- C Charging throughout the cabin
  • Text Messaging AssistantReply to text messages without touching your phone

Having those benefits are always good, but nice-to-have versus need-to-have are very different things. One thing that is a must is safety and the 2023 Nissan Leaf kills it. Okay. Maybe a poor choice of words, but you get what I am saying. Nissan wraps the Leaf in a barrier of electronic sensors called Pro Pilot Assist. Pro Pilot Assist simplifies driving and improves your awareness of the surroundings. Here are a few of those technologies available on the 2023 Leaf:

  • Intelligent Around View MonitoringGreat for parking in tight spaces
  • Automatic Emergency BrakingActivates the brakes if you cannot react in time
  • Rear Automatic BrakingSensors in the rear will activate the brakes if an object is detected
  • Blind Spot WarningNotifies you if a vehicle is in your blind spot
  • Intelligent Driver AlertnessMonitors your driving and keeps you informed of your mental alertness

The 2023 Nissan Leaf is a brilliant little hatchback EV. It has stood the test of time and continues to provide more bang for the buck every year. Currently the SV Plus starts at $35,800 dollars and the S at $27,800. That means unlike most brands, the 2023 Nissan Leaf is affordable.
